UPDATE 11/7/2010 - The CM7 1.0 update will fix any market compatibility issues.
UPDATED 10/5/2011 I was being lazy when I initially wrote this post and I apologize. I’ve included all the instructions so you don’t have to fish.
With all the changes that have been going on in the Android Market and sellers updating their apps, you may have been geting the following message when you try to download certain apps: “Your device is not compatible with this item”.
I personally tend to get really annoyed when things that should work don’t and I know that many of you out there share the sentiment. The above image was sent to me by a customer who was trying to download the Facebook for Android App. There is however a work around, although I’m not sure why you would get this message in the first place as the market will only display apps which will work on our device. Don’t feel bad this is not only affecting Nook Color with CM7, it’s affecting several android phones as well.
Ok, so here is the workaround for now. Once I find a permanent fix I’ll post.
1. If you have not downloaded LCD Density, go to the Market and download it to you Nook Color CM7 Android, then follow the instructions in I posted in a previous post. or just read the instructions here:
- Once the app is downloaded, launch it. A message screen will pop-up, tap Continue
A new menu screen will appear, this is where all the setting are set.
- First select Set Density to 160 (the smaller the number the better the resolution, for NookCM7 160 is the optimal – if you have good eye site you can go smaller). You will see a message in read in the top right of the app as to what your density will be set to.
- Next, set your Reboot Method to killall from the drop down menu.
- Finally, tap Apply (Restart)
A this point your device will restart.
2. Once your device has restarted click on the Menu icon from you home screen panel and select “Manage Applications” . Look for the Market app and click on it. The Market App detail screen will open, click “Clear Data“.

Close the window and launch the Market App, you will have to accept the Market license agreement this is how you will know you have cleared the data correctly. Now try to download an app such as Facebook or Netflix, you should see the “Install” button.
If this does not work for you then you may want to launch the web browser in CM7 and visit http://slideme.org/sam and download SAM 4.3 to your device. This is an alternate Android Market where you can find apps that will work.
Good Luck !
